FAQ

How can I make a public records request?

We recommend using this online public portal to submit a request for information. This will allow you to track and monitor the status of your request, and receive most documents in response to your request.

How long will it take before I get a response?

The Public Information Act requires that the City of Dallas respond "promptly" and "without delay." The City will contact you within 3 business days from receipt of your request with the information that you requested or an estimate of how long it will take to retrieve the information.

How much does it cost to make a Public Information Request?

The cost may include copying charges of $.10 per page and administrative charges for search, retrieval, and other direct administrative costs. Administrative charges shall not exceed the salary of the lowest paid full-time employee who, in the discretion of the custodian of the records, has the necessary skill and training to perform the request.
